Describe any experience or background that has made you aware of inequities and challenges faced by historically underrepresented or economically disadvantaged groups. If selected for a nursing position at UCSF, how will this experience or background help you contribute to UCSF’s commitment to increasing diversity and promoting a culture of equal opportunity?
A little about me: 1st generation college graduate as well as a immigrant from South Korea. Lived a year in homeless shelters during middle school due to financial hardships and difficulties my single mother was facing raising two children. Last semester of my senior year in college, I had opportunity to study abroad in Malawi for 3 weeks (one of the poorest countries in the world) and saw lack of healthcare. I then decided I wanted to help others, graduated 3 months later and enrolled myself back in school to become a nurse. I also did my L&D rotation at UCSF mission bay campus and preceptorship at Parnassus campus. I also gave birth at UCSF mission bay campus.
